Selling FBA and checking storage fees? Or thinking about starting a FBA business and wondering how much warehousing costs? This article will provide a short overview on inventory fees for Amazon sellers, how it is calculated and what long-term storage fees actually are.
Inventory storage fees for Amazon sellers
For each and every unit of you that is stored in an Amazon fulfilment ceter you need to pay a storage fee. This fee is based on calendar month and your daily average volume (measured in cubic feet (UK)/cubic rest of EU).
The measurement of any unit will be based on the unit’s size when properly packaged and ready for shipping to customers in accordance with the FBA program policies. Amazon
Monthly standard size inventory storage fee
The inventory storage fees are always charged between the 7th and 15th day of the month following the month the fee applies.
|Month||Clothing, Shoes, Bags||All other products|
|January – September||£0.39||£0.65|
|October – December||£0.55||£0.91|
Calculating cubic feet from centimeters
- Multiply length x width x height in centimeters to get the volume.
- Divide the volume by 28,316.84 cubic centimeters (30.48 cm x 30.48 cm x 30.48 cm = 28,316.84), which is the equivalent of 1 cubic foot.
Calculating cubic feet from inches
- Multiply length x width x height in inches to get the volume.
- Divide the volume by 12 cubic inches (12 x 12 x 12 inches = 1,728).
NOTE: Amazon reserves the right to make its own measurement of the volume or weight of packaged units or representative samples. In the rare case in which Amazon’s and the seller’s measurement won’t match, Amazon’s measurement will govern.
Long-term inventory storage fee
If units have been stored in an Amazon warehosue for more than 1 year, 365 days, long-term inventory fees are due. The long-term storage fee is added to the monthly fee but removal orders for items before the next inventory cleanup date won’t be subject to long-term storage fees.
Long-term storage fees are due on two fixed dates every year: 15 February and 15 August. However, this will change soon..
Adjustment of FBA storage fees (1 August 2019)
There will be storage fee adjustments for FBA sellers, starting on 1 August 2019. The main changes concern the long-term storage fees. These fees will no longer be charged for inventory held between 181 and 365 days in a fulfillment center in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, or Spain.
The two fixed dates in the last paragraph won’t mean anything anymore and the long-time storage fees will be due every month!
Adjustments for standard sizes
Standard sizes remain unchanged except for clothing and shoes. The monthly storage fees for these two categories will be reduced by 40%.
