We do our best to optimize our listings, get 5 star reviews, have a high keyword ranking, have a quick response rate on customer emails etc. We put a lot of work into our listings and Amazon stores.
These are important and necessary steps to obtain sales on Amazon, but this way we all depend solely on Amazon. What happens if Amazon decides one day to restrict our category? Or doesn’t allow selling our products anymore for various reasons? There are simply too many risk factors which could go wrong any time.

With a long email list you could start from the scratch even if all Amazon sites would have been shut down. You could open your own Shopify site and sell your products there. You could use your email list to market your products to your previous customers.
Since Amazon encrypted its customer’s email addresses, you have to find another way to obtain them. The best solution is an insert with various tactics to obtain your customers email address.
